Thousands of patients with leukemia, lymphoma, other blood cancer and severe sickle cell depend in the Be the Match Registry to find a donor who can give them the chance for a CURE. YOU have the power to save a life!
The matching process is based on your race and DNA NOT blood type. Many patients, especially those of divers ancestry, can’t find a match.
It only takes about 15 minutes and a check swab sample to join the registry!
If you are a match for someone there are two ways of donating.
About 77% of the time the donation is done through blood, similar to donating double reds or platelets.
About 23% of the time (usually if you match a child) the donation is done through a surgical procedure, you are under general anesthesia.
