A 60-year-old man arrested on arson and assault charges.

 

Chief of Police Billy Joe Stanfield reports on July 3, 2018, his officers and Pemiscot County Deputies responded to a home on Brooks Street with a report of a vehicle being on fire and someone being struck with a baseball bat.

Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames and the fire had spread to the front of a house; Steele Officer Josh Carter safely extracted one person from inside the home.

The Steele Fire Department arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the fire.

It was determined the fire was deliberately set (arson) and the suspected arsonist also assaulted a woman by striking her with a baseball bat.

A 60-year-old man from Steele was arrested by police and is currently being held at the Pemiscot County Jail.

The Missouri State Fire Marshall was contacted to assist with the investigation.

Steele Officer Dylan Hastings has filed charges with the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney and once the arrest warrant is issued the suspect’s name will then be made public.

*Steele Police subsequently received an arrest warrant on 60-year-old Elbert Ray Parsons of Steele who is charged with arson 1st degree and assault 1st degree and armed criminal action with bond set at $25,000.00 cash only*

Officers arrested a Steele man, 25, on charges of unlawful use a weapon, the arrest stems from an incident the day before when a woman reported to police that a man had pulled a gun and made threats. Arresting Officer: Carter

Officers responded to a peace disturbance call on Cobblestone St., a 33-year-old man from Steele was charged with peace disturbance and released by summons to appear in court.  Arresting Officer: Carter


July 1, 2018

Officers responded to a home on Cooter Rd., in reference to an assault; upon arrival, officers arrested a 17-year-old man from Steele for assault. He was later released on a summons to appear. Arresting Officer: Carter


June 30, 2018

Officers responded to a residence on West Main St., in reference to an assault; officers subsequently arrested a 44-year-old man from Steele on charges of domestic assault. he was later released by summons. Arresting Officer: Sides


June 28, 2018

Jamie Blair, 38, was arrested on an active failure to appear warrant through Pemiscot County with a bond set at $525.00. Arresting Officer: Reno


June 24, 2018

Taddius Parnell

Jasmine Toenyan reported to police that her ex-boyfriend Taddius Parnell, of Caruthersville, had stolen her car from a home on Bellevue St. The car was later located and recovered by police. Officers subsequently located and arrested Taddius Parnell, 29, on a warrant charging him with stealing a motor vehicle and parole violation. Taddius Parnell is being held at the Pemiscot County Jail with no bond. Arresting Officer: Carter
