The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office reports that recently, K-9 Deputy Justin Jones and Investigator Jeremy Caldwell were conducting routine patrol on Highway 104 West in Finley, Tennessee.
During the patrol, K-9 Deputy Jones conducted a traffic stop on a black Ford Explorer near the intersection of Highway 104 West and Shannon Street. The stop was initiated due to an expired vehicle registration leading to the discovery of an active warrant for the registered driver.
During the stop, Deputy Jones’s K-9 partner, Max, conducted a free air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle and provided a positive alert for the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed narcotics concealed behind the center console.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 42 year old John Dustin Morris, was placed under arrest and charged with the following offenses:
• Possession of Schedule II Methamphetamine with Intent to Sell or Deliver
• Possession of Schedule II Fentanyl with Intent to Sell or Deliver
