NWS Updates Damage Survey of March 15th Storms

The National Weather Sevice (NWS) has issued an update to it’s damage survey of the March 15th Storms.

The NWS determined an EF0 tornado hit Clarkton, Missouri, with an estimated peak wind speed of 85 mph and an estimated path length of 2.94 miles.  The tornado touched down just east of Baird between County Roads 316 and 320 overturning multiple center pivots. The tornado continued into the town of Clarkton, causing roof damage to a state school, convenience store, and multiple homes along Page Street just south of W Highway 162. Additional damage was noted to an outbuilding south of E Highway 162, with debris spreading into a nearby field. The tornado lifted just before the town of Gideon.

The NWS determined an EF1 tornado struck Rector, Arkansas, with an estimated peak wind speed of 90 mph and an estimated path length of 2.04 miles.  The tornado touched down on county road 420 northwest of Rector, AR, where tree damage was observed. The tornado continued northeast, causing minor roof damage to a residence near the intersection of county road 420 and 418. In addition, roof uplift occurred to a metal outbuilding on the property. Damage was consistent with a 90 mph EF-1 tornado. The tornado lifted shortly after crossing county road 418.

Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported in either tornado.
