
The MSHP had a busy Christmas holiday week as they responded to multiple fatal or serious accidents.
On Tuesday, December 23rd, the MSHP responded to a fatal accident involving two vehicles in New Madrid County. The crash occurred around 5:45pm on US 62, three miles east of Malden, when a 2014 Ford Escape, driven by a 63 year old female from Gideon, crossed the center line and struck a 2004 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 60 year old male from Risco. The driver of the Wrangler was pronounced at the scene by New Madrid County Coroner George Delisle at 6:35pm. This is Troop E Fatality #62 for 2025.
On Christmas evening around 5:05pm, the MSHP responded to a fatal accident in Butler County, on MO-T, seven miles east of Poplar Bluff. The two vehicle crash occurred as a 2006 Nissan Armada, driven by a 75 year old male from Dexter, pulled into the path of a 1997 Honda MZO 1500 motorcycle, operated by a 36 year old male from Poplar Bluff. The motorcycle driver was pronounced at the scene by Butler County Deputy Coroner Ryan Thurman at 5:24pm. This is Troop E Fatality #63 for 2025.
On Friday, December 26th, the MSHP responded to a single vehicle accident in Pemiscot County, two miles west of Cooter on I-55 Southbound at the 3.4 mile marker. The crash occurred at 1:30pm when a 2005 Peterbilt, driven by a 52 year old male from Mississauga, Canada, traveled off the left side of roadway, crashed through the cable barrier and traveled off the northbound side of the roadway. The driver sustained moderate injuries ans was air lifted to Region One Hospital in Memphis.
On Saturday, December 27th, the MSHP responded to a single vehicle crash in Stoddard County, just north of Aquila on MO-25. The accident occurred as a 2016 Ford Mustang, operated by a 26 year old male from Jackson, MO., ran off the right side of the roadway, overturned ejecting the driver then the vehicle came to rest in the river. The driver sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
