kfd-19

Kennett Fire Chief Lance Davis provides an update on a recent fire call.  On 9-20-2025, the Kennett Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire with possible occupants trapped.  While units were en route, dispatch advised that all occupants had made it out of the residence. Upon arrival, firefighters found five family members safely outside the home.

Emergency medical crews provided immediate care. Victim one was transported to Region One Medical Center by Survival Flight 2, and Victim 2 was transported to Region One by Air Evac. Their three children were transported to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould by Medic One.  We are grateful to report that all three children have since been released from the hospital. Both parents remain in Region One receiving care. Seventeen KFD personnel responded, with crews working on scene for approximately five hours.

The Kennett Fire Department wishes to recognize the efforts of three bystanders—Baylee Wilcut, Brianna Wilcut, and Shanda Parker— who assisted the family and continued to help with the children while firefighters cared for the parents.

Firefighters also rescued a family dog from the home. The dog was treated on scene for smoke inhalation and turned over to the Kennett Humane Department for further care until it can be reunited with the family.
