On Tuesday, Craighead County Sheriff Deputies arrested a Blytheville man after they said he swapped the vehicle identification number on a truck that was sold online. Monette Police Chief Brian Carmichael provided information to Craighead County Deputy Jacob Wright about a stolen truck that was sold on Facebook Marketplace out of Monette. The VIN provided to a buyer was associated with a truck located in Texas. During a traffic stop of the vehicle, a check of the 54-year-old driver showed that his driver’s license was suspended. Deputy Wright also found the VINs on the windshield and driver’s door matched the truck at the dealership in Texas, indicating the numbers had been swapped. The driver was taken into custody for driving on a suspended driver’s license and altering or changing engine or other (identification) numbers. He is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash/surety bond, awaiting an August 1st court appearance.
