A Kennett man has been sentenced to federal prison following two 2023 drug sales involving methamphetamine. On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. sentenced 53-year-old Clayton E. Barnes to 128 months in federal prison. The sentence followed a guilty plea in U.S. District Court by Barnes in April, to two felony counts of methamphetamine distribution.
According to court records, on two separate occasions in August 2023, Barnes sold a combined 157 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover officer in an investigation led by the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force. Due to two previous drug convictions, Barnes was classified as a career offender under federal sentencing guidelines.
