According to a police report from the Dyersburg Police Department last week, Joseph Adam Harrell, 40, of Dyersburg, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and drug charges after a brief standoff with police. DPD received a complaint of a domestic assault and possible kidnapping at Harrell’s home. Upon arrival, Dyersburg Police officers found several witnesses and an alleged victim claiming Harrell had held the woman since the previous day and threatened her with a knife and shotgun. Harrell stayed inside his residence and spoke with a DPD officer by phone. He surrendered after about a 10-minute standoff. The case remains under investigation and other charges may be forthcoming.
