Council Approves Administrator Proposal

After many years, it appears the City of Kennett is going the administrator route again. During this week’s meeting the City Council’s Finance Committee made the recommendation. Councilwoman Lisa Dry provided the rationale for the recommendation — among them: the audit findings and oversight needs, financial management, project management and strategic planning, and personnel and policy leadership

There was brief debate on the proposal – Councilman James Waynick showed concern, saying the word ‘administrator’ carries a stigma to many in town.

There have been two city administrators over the years in Kennett – neither were that successful. Ignoring Waynick’s concerns, the Council approved the proposal. No next steps to hire an administrator were discussed.
