Hearing Held on Proposed Hospital Property Rezoning

Trust me, I know – 99.9% of all rezoning public hearings last a couple of minutes and it’s a ho-hum affair to say the least. But NOT when it involves a piece of property everyone has an opinion about – the old hospital. Last night the Kennett City Council held a public hearing on the rezoning request from Mohammed Nawid – he was asking that the property be rezoned from residential (R-1) to general business (B-2). There were many opinions expressed.

The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission opposes the request. According to the commission’s Towny Sparks, the primary concern for Planning and Zoning is the plan for the property’s use.

Nawid in the end asked for the matter to be tabled. It’s unclear what the next step will be.
