
CAPE GIRARDEAU – A former Cape Girardeau city councilman has been indicted on drug and gun charges. Rhettney B. Pierce, 54, was indicted Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau on one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and one count of being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm.
According to the US Attorney, the indictment accuses Pierce of possessing more than 50 grams of meth between September 26 and 27, and possessing two 9mm handguns while a user of illegal drugs.
Pierce was arrested on the federal charges Thursday and pleaded not guilty.
