Five people were hurt, four of them children, in a two vehicle traffic accident Saturday night in New Madrid County. The MSHP reports the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on US 61 just north of New Madrid when 30 year old Sharon McGlowson of Cape Girardeau was attempting a left turn in the SUV she was driving, and it was struck from behind by a car driven by 28 year old Shaquise Drake of New Madrid.
McGlowson was hurt as were four children, ages 5 to 9 in Drake’s car. One of the children was seriously hurt. He was taken by Air Evac to a Memphis hospital. The others were taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital with minor injuries.
