One Vehicle Crashes Leave People Hurt in the Bootheel

One vehicle accidents in the Bootheel over the weekend left people hurt.

A UTV struck a ditch and overturned on private property south of Howardville Friday night, injuring the passenger. According to the MSHP, 46 year old Sontina Bashley of New Madrid was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital with moderate injuries. The driver, 52 year old Keith Word of Howardville, was not hurt.

A Qulin woman was hurt Sunday night at 9:25 p.m. when her vehicle ran off Highway 53 south of Qulin and struck a ditch. Troop E reports 33 year old Ashley Rushing was taken to a Poplar Bluff hospital with minor injuries.

About 20 minutes later in Dunklin County, a Kennett woman was hurt when her SUV ran off CR 536 north of Caruth, struck a ditch, and overturned. 41 year old Tiffany Higgins was taken to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.

Troop E reports Higgins was arrested for DWI-drugs and careless and imprudent driving.
