The director of Kennett OAKS is retiring this month. Laura Ford spearheaded efforts to move their senior nutrition and other programs from the Community Building to its current facility on Harrison Street. At first, she said, they tried traditional fundraisers to pay for renovations.
The senior sales tax was overwhelmingly approved by voters – twice, and Ford says they couldn’t be where they are without those funds.
Her last day on the job is June 30.
