
UPDATE: The shooting suspect was identified as 52 year old William K. Donald of Corning. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and upon release, was taken into custody and booked into the Clay County Detention Center on two felony counts of First-Degree Battery.

On Saturday May 16th, 2026, the Clay County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at approximately 4:04 P.M. of multiple people shot at Baker Sawmill Company in Corning. Clay County Sheriff Deputies and Corning Police Officers responded to Southwest 1st Street in Corning and found two people with gun shot wounds in a building at the lumber company. Responding deputies and officers administered first aid until EMTs arrived. The officers also learned that the suspect had fled on foot, heading south through the lumber yard.
At 4:33pm, Deputies and officers apprehended the subject at a residence about a half mile south of where the incident occurred. After the subject was in custody, officers learned he had also been shot. Two of the subjects were transported to Jonesboro Hospitals, then transferred to Little Rock and Memphis. Another individual was also taken to a Memphis Hospital.
The Arkansas State Police C.I.D. Division has taken over the investigation and will handle any further information.
