Kennett, Missouri – Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas Jain announces that Trevor Huber, 43, of Cardwell, Missouri, was convicted at trial of the first-degree murder of his mother, Charlotte Wilson, 63, also of Cardwell.

A two-day trial was held May 18-19, 2026, in Dunklin County before the Honorable Josh Underwood, and Huber was found guilty as charged of first-degree murder. Judge Underwood subsequently sentenced Huber to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Jain presented evidence that on December 21, 2018, early in the morning, Huber called 911 from the residence he shared with his mother in Cardwell. He made unusual statements during the call and requested a deputy. Law enforcement officers arrived, and eventually, Huber came out of the house naked. Upon entering the residence, a deputy saw a bloody hammer and knife on the kitchen table of the house. He then discovered Mrs. Wilson deceased inside the home. Huber was arrested at the scene.

Investigators interviewed Huber and he told them he had done methamphetamine a few days before the murder and that he believed his mother was poisoning him. He eventually wrote, “I killed my mother” on a piece of paper and swallowed it.

“I want to thank the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol for their professional and diligent work in investigating and solving this
homicide and in all the cases they handle,” said Prosecutor Jain.
