The Newbern Police Department reports while on routine patrol in the area of Church Grove Road during the evening hours of April 11, 2026, a Newbern Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a speeding violation.
During the traffic stop, probable cause was established to search the vehicle and officers located a felony amount of Schedule VI marijuana. Digital scales and individual baggies commonly associated with the packaging and distribution of illegal narcotics were recovered during the search as well.
As a result of the investigation, 30 year old Lakeyston Brown, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Schedule VI marijuana with the intent to sell or deliver. Brown was transported to the Dyer County Law Enforcement Center and is awaiting an appearance in Newbern Municipal Court.
