April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

April is dristracted driving awareness month! Everyone should be reminded that even a moment of distraction behind the wheel can have serious—and sometimes deadly—consequences.

Texting, talking on the phone, adjusting the radio, eating, or anything that takes your eyes, hands, or focus off the road puts you and others at risk.

Every day, officers see firsthand how quickly a simple distraction can turn into a crash. No message, call, or notification is worth a life.  On average, nine people a day are killed in distracted driving crashes, but a few simple steps can reduce the risks for yourself and those around you:

  • Put the phone down

  • Stay focused on the road

  • Set a good example for others

Let’s work together to keep our community safe. Drive alert. Arrive alive.
