On Saturday, March 28th, you may have noticed additional law enforcement agencies in Caruthersville and wondered why there were so many in town. Caruthersville Chief of Police Jerry Hudgens reports this was part of a coordinated saturation effort in response to a recent rise in violent criminal activity along with numerous complaints regarding careless and reckless driving within the community.

This operation was a joint effort of the Caruthersville Police Department, Pemiscot County Deputies, Missouri State Troopers, ATF and the SEMO DTF. The purpose of the operation was an attempt to get illegal guns, drugs and other criminal elements off of the streets.

Chief Hudgens said, “We take this type of activity very seriously and will do everything possible to curb and hopefully eliminate this type of behaviors. Our priority is the safety of our citizens and we are taking a proactive approach to address these concerns.”

Chief Hudgens also expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of all assisting agencies as well as the community in working together to keep our streets safe.
