The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle accident in Butler County on County Road 442, one mile west of Poplar Bluff. The crash occurred on Monday morning at 8:35am as a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 40 year old male from Poplar Bluff, crossed into the path of a 2019 Nissan Kick and struck it head on. The Nissan Kick was driven by a 24 year old female from Poplar Bluff, who sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
UPDATE: The driver of the Nissan Kick was transferred to St. Louis University Hospital and later pronounced by Dr. Laura Koopman at 0214 hours early yesterday morning. This is Troop E fatality #8 for 2026.
