The Caruthersville Police Department has issued a public safety alert related to a backpack containing a firearm being accidentally left on a sidewalk within the city by a resident. Again, the backpack contains a firearm and has not yet been recovered.
The bag is a LOVEVOOK style backpack and is gold in color with cream as well. The bag was left in-front of a residence located in the 700 block of Beckwith Avenue.
This is a serious safety concern. If you have seen or picked up a backpack that does not belong to you, we ask that you:
• Do NOT open it
• Do NOT handle the firearm
• Call 911 immediately
If a child or anyone else has located this bag, please contact CPD right away so they can safely recover it. The top priority is recovering the bag safely before anyone is injured.
