New Madrid County Sheriff Joey Higgerson reports a missing New Madrid man’s body has been found. On Tuesday morning, the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the United States Coast Guard of a possible human body in the Mississippi River near Caruthersville. A commercial watercraft on the river initially located the body of a white male wearing dark clothing near the Mississippi River Bridge. The sheriff’s office recovered the body a short time later.

The remains were transported to the Pemiscot County morgue by Coroner Brian Irions. After examination by investigators, the subject was identified as Camden Nicholas Allgier, who was reported missing on December 26th, 2025. An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday to help determine the cause and manner of death.

In a social media post, Sheriff Higgerson stated, “While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, it does bring closure for the Allgier family who has been searching relentlessly for their family member.”

Sheriff Higgerson also expressed his sincere gratitude to the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office, Pemiscot County Coroner’s Office, United States Coast Guard and the commercial boat crew involved in finding Mr. Allgier’s remains.
