On Tuesday, at 8:00am, the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a four vehicle accident in Butler County, five miles south of Poplar Bluff on Route C. The multi-vehicle accident occurred as a 2021 RAM 3500, driven by a 45 year old male from Doniphan, struck the rear of a 2014 Nissan Versa driven by a 63 year old male from Paragould, causing it to strike the rear of 2015 Kia Optima, driven by a 25 year old male from Poplar Bluff, causing it to strike the rear of a 2013 Chrysler 200, driven by a 50 year old female from Doniphan.
Multiple people were injured in the accident, with three people receiving minor injuries. A male occupant of the Nissan Versa suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Unfortunately, a 63 year old male occupant of the Nissan Versa was pronounced at the scene by Butler County Ambulance personnel. This is Troop E fatality #53 for 2025.
