Recently, Hayti Firefighter Blake Irions competed in the Firefighter Challenge Championship Series in Hoover, Alabama. Blake began training for the challenge in January to prepare to compete with other firefighters from around the world. New recruits are given 7 minutes to complete the course and Blake 
completed it in 3:11, setting a new unofficial state record for Missouri. Mayor Lisa Green told Pollack Broadcasting, “Hayti has an exceptional fire department and several new young firefighters. Blake is just one of the talented young firemen we have who has joined our department and they all really do a great job.”
Last night at the Hayti City Council Meeting, Mayor Lisa Green presented Blake with a plaque commemorating his success in the competition and honored him in front of friends, family and colleagues of the Hayti Fire Department. Congratulations, Blake!
