JEFFERSON CITY — Among the special session bills passed by the Missouri Legislature and signed by the governor Saturday was Senate Bill 4, sponsored by State Sen. Jason Bean.

SB 4 streamlines the delivery of disaster housing relief by allowing the immediate transfer of emergency aid to the Missouri Housing Development Commission when the governor requests a presidential disaster declaration. The legislation also expands existing program eligibility and removes administrative burdens to expedite aid for Missouri families.

Bean said in a news release that he was proud to sponsor the bill that enhances the utility of the Missouri Housing Trust Fund, by expanding eligibility and removing administrative burdens and costs to expedite aid for Missouri families with Disaster Housing Response Grants.

Additionally, Senate Bill 1 included $25 million from the state general revenue fund to be used for disaster relief and was also signed into law by the governor.
