
Four people from Lilbourn, including an off-duty New Madrid County Sheriff’s Deputy and his two daughters, died in a two car crash on Route U just west of New Madrid Tuesday. According to the MSHP, the accident happened when the 41 year old deputy lost control of his vehicle; it crossed the center line and struck a car, driven by a 17 year old girl, head on. The teenage driver was also killed.
The crash happened yesterday at 4:35 p.m.
Other law enforcement agencies are expressing their condolences. This from the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office and their community during this incredibly difficult time. May you find strength, comfort, and support as you navigate through this tragedy.”
And from Pemiscot County Emergency Services, “Our hearts break for our neighbors. Please keep the family in your prayers during this huge tragedy.”
