An arrest has been made in New Madrid County after the death of a three month old baby in Morehouse. According to Sheriff Ronnie Adams, deputies were called just before 6 p.m. Sunday to Spruce Street on a report that a baby was not breathing. They found the infant dead.
According to the Sheriff, an autopsy of the infant concluded that there was no trauma leading to the death, however, charges were filed and an arrest warrant issued for the father, Zackery Scott Murphy. Among the charges is endangering the welfare of a child and manufacturing a controlled substance. He’s in jail on a $50,000 bond.
Adams reports deputies seized a marijuana operation including 56 plants in various stages of growth inside the residence. At the time of call, Murphy had fled the scene but was arrested on Monday.
