The Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Department wants you to know about a potential scam. Callers are representing themselves as Pemiscot County Deputies, sometime using Chief Deputy Joe Bryant’s name.
The victims are notified of a Federal Subpoena or warrant for them and they need to send money to take care of it. They are spoofing the Sheriff’s Office phone number, which makes the scam more dangerous.
The sheriff’s department is aware of one victim sending $3,000 in bitcoins to the scammers.
Sheriff Tommy Greenwell says his office will never contact you about any type of papers and request you send money.
