An Osceola man was arrested by Steele Police late last week after he wrote a fraudulent check for a UTV purchase. According to Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield, the victim – from Arkansas – said he met with two people in Steele to sell his side-by-side. After the sale the victim found out the check he received was fraudulent.

An investigation led them to Senath where the UTV was recovered. Kabron McFarland of Osceola was arrested and charged with stealing a motor vehicle and forgery.

McFarland will be arraigned Thursday; he’s held in the PCJC.

Stanfield urges extra caution when using online marketplaces and meeting strangers for transactions.
