Southeast Missouri Food Bank has received a more than $63,000 grant from the Disabled American Veterans Service Trust to support its Veterans Healthy Food Surplus Program. According to a news release, SEMO Food Bank started providing boxes of healthy food to veterans in 2019 through a continuing partnership with John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. The program expanded two years later, serving 75 veterans.

Veterans received 35 to 40 pounds of food, including lean protein and fresh fruit and vegetables each month.
