New Madrid County Voters Made Several Decisions

Voters decided a handful of races in New Madrid County Tuesday. The two people elected to the Portageville School Board were Ronnie Gene Adams with 204 votes and Jarret Warren with 181. Matt Brasher finished a close third with 171; Towina Jones received 136 votes and Tiffany Jackson 57.

Gary Faulk won the Portageville ward 1 race, 109-53 over Patty Estes Johnson. Portageville voters said no to the capital improvements sales tax – 288-131.

Mary Kay Davis received 615 votes and Aaron Griffin 568 to win seats on the New Madrid R-1 school board for a three year term. Kevin Lyons received 378 votes.

Robert Taylor was elected mayor in Lilbourn – 128 to 44 over Larry Hamilton. Virgie Johnson defeated Brian Mays in the collector’s race – 83-77. Cynthia Dobbs was the winner in a three way race for Ward 1 alderman with 45 votes. Pamela Small received 25 votes and Larry Jackson 24. Richard Kolwyck took the Ward 2 race with 36 votes. Benji Henry received 22 and Denise Comstock 17. Lilbourn voters said no to a proposal to allow the board of alderman appoint the city collector. That vote was 99-72.

New Madrid voters chose Nick White in the mayor’s race. He received 446 votes, Richard Bodi got 188, and Kevin Lyons 51.

County-wide, voters overwhelmingly approved the marijuana sales tax – 977 to 600.
