It’s Election Day

It’s election day in Missouri. Voters go to the polls to decide municipal and school board races. Marijuana sales tax proposals are on the ballot in Dunklin County as well as Kennett and Senath. In Clarkton, voters decide about a local use tax.

There are municipal races in Kennett, Holcomb, Campbell, Malden, and Clarkton. School board seats will be decided in Malden, Senath-Hornersville, and Holcomb.

In Pemiscot County, there are several school board races – North Pemiscot, Hayti, Caruthersville, Delta C-7, and Pemiscot County Special School District. There’s races for city marshal and collector in Caruthersville.

There are a handful of local races in New Madrid County. Lilbourn’s ballot is pretty full with candidates for mayor, collector and alderman.

Six people are running for Portageville School Board.  There’s two seats up for grabs in the New Madrid County R-1 School District. Two are running for New Madrid mayor.

A marijuana sales tax is on the ballot county-wide, while Portageville voters are deciding whether to impose a .5-cent sales tax for capital improvements. If approved, that tax would sunset in ten years.

The polls are open until 7 p.m.
