Bootheel Traffic Accidents Leave Seven People Hurt

Two traffic accidents Sunday in the Bootheel left seven people hurt. The first happened on I-55 south of Steele just before noon when a pickup truck, driven by 20 year old Zachary Bingham of North Vernon, IN struck the rear of a car driven by 33 year old Marlon Jackson of Jacksonville, IL.

The MSHP reports Jackson was hurt as was a passenger in his car, 33 year old Raven Trice, of Granite City, IL. They were taken to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Five people from Blytheville were hurt when the SUV they were in struck standing water on Highway H west of Matthews, causing the vehicle to run off the road and overturn. According to Troop E, the driver, 39 year old Karron Carter received minor injuries, as did four passengers in the SUV.

They were taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital, following the 1:45 p.m. accident.
