LITTLE ROCK—A Paragould man who admitted to shooting at police officers was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison Friday, the maximum sentenced allowed by law.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, on February 7, 2021, Paragould police officers observed 23 year old Taj Harris walking near the area of Walnut Street and Second Street in Paragould. Officers knew Harris had an active warrant for his arrest. As police attempted to take Harris into custody, Harris pulled out a firearm and exchanged fire with two officers.

He was eventually arrested after a foot pursuit. Harris was indicted in July 2021 and pleaded guilty last November.
