Caruthersville’s fire chief made a big announcement last night. During the City Council meeting, Chief Charlie Jones announced he would retire from the department on May 31 after 53 years, 37 as chief. Jones says he will remain the city’s emergency management director.
In a statement provided to us, Jones thanked the mayors and council members he’s had the pleasure of working with during the years. “I’m proud of the many accomplishments that have been made during my time as Fire Chief. I have enjoyed serving the citizens of Caruthersville and Pemiscot County.”
