Kennett School District to Grow Their Own Teachers

Earlier this week you heard that the Missouri Board of Education President believes teacher recruitment is the pressing issue facing schools across the state. The Kennett School District is attacking that at least in part by offering something new – the Grow Your Own Teacher program. Superintendent Dr. Chris Wilson said the district is partnering with the Kennett Educational Foundation.

The first recipient of the scholarship is KHS Senior Malea Lack, who plans to attend Arkansas State and become a first or second grade teacher.

Foundation Vice President Jason Scherer said Sheryl Crow gave $100,000 to get the program off the ground.
