MSHP Investigates Several Weekend Traffic Crashes

The MSHP investigated several weekend traffic accidents. A Portageville man was seriously hurt Friday morning when his car struck a vehicle making a left turn at the entrance road just east of Marston in New Madrid County. 28 year old Jacob Cook was hurt as was the other driver, 61 year old Robert Bell of Hayti, who sustained moderate injuries. Both drivers were taken to the hospital in Sikeston.

Just after midnight Saturday, a Gosnell man was hurt when his vehicle ran off Hwy NN just north of the Arkansas state line, struck a ditch, and overturned. 27 year old Joshua Ward was taken to Great River Hospital in Blytheville with moderate injuries.

One person was hurt late Saturday night in a two vehicle accident on US 412 and Highway AC. Troop E reports that 20 year old William Walker of Paragould failed to yield his vehicle and it was struck by a pickup driven by 57 year old William Carner of Piggott. A passenger in Walker’s vehicle, 18 year old Elizabeth Walker, also of Paragould, received minor injuries and was taken to Arkansas Methodist Hospital.

An Iowa man was seriously hurt Sunday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle on the I-55 north bound exit ramp onto US 62 in New Madrid County. According to the Patrol, 54 year old Patrick Keil of Iowa City was conducting maintenance on a towed unit and was struck by a pickup driven by 77 year old James Brock of Marston. Keil was taken by Air Medical to a Memphis hospital.
