As you can imagine, driving was hazardous across the area yesterday. The MSHP worked a number of traffic accidents. Among them was a one vehicle accident on I-55 in New Madrid County that left one person hurt. Troop E reports, Cathola Smith of New Madrid was hurt when the car she was in ran off the highway and hit barrier cables. She received moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital in Sikeston.
Also on I-55 yesterday afternoon, 28 year old Casey Martin of Steele was hurt when her SUV began to slide on the Interstate; it struck a cable barrier and then another vehicle, driven by a Texas man. Martin was taken to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
