An ice storm warning is in effect from 6 p.m. tonight to midnight tomorrow night for the Bootheel, as well as parts of NE Arkansas and West Tennessee. Where there is not an ice storm warning, there’s a winter storm warning. According to the NWS, significant icing is expected – total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of four-tenths to one-half inch are expected. Wind chill will be an issue too – winds will gust as high as 35 mph.

The impending storm was a major topic at Tuesday night’s Kennett City Council meeting. Fire Chief Paul Spain reported that both city and county officials met yesterday to prepare.

Spain said the Emergency Operations Center will open up today more than likely at the Fire Administration Building, 200 Kennett Street, and any emergency communications needed will start Thursday morning.

Governor Mike Parson yesterday declared a State of Emergency to help with storm preparation across Missouri.
