Two Charged in Death of Man Reported Missing This Week

The Dunklin County Sheriffs’ Office, The Missouri Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, the Missouri Department of Conservation and The Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office are continuing their investigation into the death of the missing person Jerry Ott who was reported missing on Oct 25. Two men from the Campbell area have been arrested with both men being incarcerated in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending their Division II court appearance.

The Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas Jain has filed charges against Philip Cooper, age 61, of Campbell,  as follows:

  1. Murder in the first Degree
  2. 2. Armed Criminal Action
  3. Tampering with Physical Evidence in Felony Prosecution ‘
  4. Abandonment of a Corpse
  5. Stealing

Charges against Jonathan Cooper, age 38, of Campbell are as follows:

  1. Tampering with physical evidence
  2. Abandonment of a Corpse
  3. Stealing
