In the last week the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by four cents to $3.38 –the highest price since 2014. According to AAA, one year ago, the average price across the country was $2.16.
Tennessee is among several states with the highest increase in the past week– the statewide average is up 12 cents to $3.16. The average price for a gallon of gas in Missouri is $3.05 and in Arkansas it’s two cents cheaper.
A spokesman with AAA said with the US economy recovering from the depths of the pandemic, demand for gas has gone up, but supply is tight.
