Weekend Traffic Accidents Leave Two People Hurt

A New Madrid man was seriously hurt Sunday night when his vehicle crossed the center line of CRs 724 and 725 and struck a SUV. According to the MSHP, 58 year old Paul Wescoat was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

The driver of the SUV, 36 year old Joshua Johnston of East Prairie, was not hurt.

Wescoat was charged with felony DWI and other traffic charges.

A one vehicle traffic accident Friday afternoon left a Caruthersville man with minor injuries. Troop E reports that 53 year old Ronald Porter was hurt when his vehicle left State Route D just west of Caruthersville, struck a driveway embankment, became airborne, struck a telephone pole, and overturned twice.

Porter was taken to the hospital in Dyersburg.
