Kennett Man Charged with First Degree Murder

A Kennett man is charged with first degree murder in connection with an incident that happened on Saturday afternoon. According to Police Chief Kenny Wilson, officers were called to the 600 block of Jones Street just before 5 p.m. and found 76 year old Sonny Ridings of Kennett dead. Wilson reports that an investigation led to the arrest of 49 year old Frankie W. Pitts.

Pitts is held in the DCJC, not only charged with first degree murder but also first degree burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of tampering with physical evidence and armed criminal action.

Pitts is held with no bond.

The incident was investigated by KPD, the MSHP, and Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department.
