City to Get into the Ambulance Transport Business

Emergency calls are still up in Kennett, and because that’s true across Dunklin County, at times there is a 30-45 minute wait for an ambulance. Fire Chief Paul Spain last night told the Kennett City Council that the city may have a solution to decrease those wait times.

Spain said the city is looking to purchase two ambulances — one primary and one backup.

How do you pay for the vehicles? Spain said they may want to work with the Bootheel Regional Planning Commission on a potential grant that would provide funds for work at Fire Station 1 and the ambulances.
