A pedestrian died in an apparent hit and run accident in Caruthersville over the weekend. According to the MSHP, the incident happened Friday night about 8:30 p.m. on 15th Street and Truman Blvd.
The victim was identified as 39 year old Willie Campbell, whose body was found on Saturday in a ditch that runs parallel with West 15th Street
The Patrol reports the driver involved in the incident was 30 year old Nicholas Womble of Caruthersville. According to a news release from Caruthersville PD, Womble is held without bond in the PCJC on a charge of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving a death.
