Kennett School District Announces Mask Mandate

In response to changes in state guidance, the Kennett School District is implementing a mask mandate it hopes will decrease quarantines due to contact tracing.

According to a letter posted on the district’s Facebook page from Superintendent Chris Wilson, if a person diagnosed with COVID and a person identified as a close contact are both wearing a mask during the time of exposure in the school setting, the close contact would not need quarantined.

This adheres to the policy announced last week by Governor Parson and State Education Director Margie Vandeven.

Parson said last week the new policy will reduce the strain on school staffing — state departments of health — and keep students in classes.
