News Release
7-29-2018
At approximately 12:11 am, officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Independence and Vinson Streets. During the stop, officers subsequently arrested 19-year-old Miguel Limas of Kennett on two active State of Missouri warrants issued out of Dunklin County and on an active Missouri Probation and Parole warrant. Limas was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrants only.
At approximately 12:29 am, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Lee Street in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim returned home to find a male inside of his residence. The victim advised officers that an altercation took place during which he struck the suspect in the head with a baseball bat at which point the suspect fled on foot. The victim advised that he gave chase however lost sight of the suspect. At the time of this report, the suspect has not been identified and the incident is still under investigation.
At approximately 5:38 am, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of West Harrison Street in reference to an attempted arson. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had used a flammable substance in an attempted to ignite the residence on fire, however; the fire was extinguished leaving only minor damage. At the time of this report, there are no suspects and the incident is still under investigation.
At approximately 10:15 am, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of Crawford Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that the dispute was verbal only and that neither party wished to pursue charges. Officers did, however, arrest 36-year-old Davis Smith of Kennett on an active Kennett Municipal warrant. Officers also arrested 34-year-old Crystal Nelson of Kennett on an active Kennett Municipal warrant. Davis was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on his warrant. Nelson posted bond on her warrant and was released pending a new court date.
At approximately 10:53 am, officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Slicer and Fifth Streets. During the stop, officers located an undisclosed amount of marijuana. Officers subsequently arrested 41-year-old Tracey Wilson of Kennett for Possession of Marijuana. Wilson was later released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending her court date.
At approximately 2:17 pm, officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart Supercenter on First Street in reference to a shoplifter that had fled on foot. Upon arrival in the area, officers located the suspect hiding inside Wendy’s restaurant. Due to the fact that he had previously been banned from Wal-Mart properties, officers subsequently arrested 29-year-old Christopher Smith of Kennett for 1st Degree Burglary. Smith was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.
At approximately 2:44 pm, officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South Vandeventer and Vandeventer Place. During the stop, officers located an undisclosed amount of marijuana. Officers subsequently arrested 27-year-old Gregory Bowles of Kennett for Possession of Marijuana. Bowles was later released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending his court date.
At approximately 6:06 pm, officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in reference to a female who had previously been banned from Wal-Mart Properties was inside the store. Upon arrival, officers were advised that the suspect had shoplifted as well and fled the store before officers arrived. The suspect was identified and a report was completed and forwarded to the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office for the filing of formal charges.
At approximately 7:33 pm, officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, after subsequent investigation, and due to the fact that the suspect had been previously banned from Wal-Mart properties, officers arrested 54-year-old Stephanie Hickman of Kennett for 1st Degree Burglary. Hickman was also arrested on a Kennett Municipal warrant. Hickman was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant as well as pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.
At approximately 9:22 pm, officers were flagged down the in the Taco Bell parking lot on First Street in reference to a female bleeding profusely from a laceration on her wrist. Officers applied first aid until the arrival of Kennett Fire Department First responders and Medics. It was later discovered that the female had reportedly punched a window at a residence in the 1500 block of Wimberley Street. The female was transported by the Medic One ambulance service for treatment. An officer was transported as well and treated due to blood exposure.
At approximately 10:07 pm, officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, and after subsequent investigation, officers arrested 48-year-old Rebecca Crawford of Kennett for shoplifting. Crawford was later released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending her court date.

7-28-2018
At approximately 7:27 am, the Kennett Police Department was contacted by the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department in regards to a vehicle that had been found damaged and abandoned on County Road 402. Upon making contact with the victim, officers learned that the vehicle had been stolen. Officers were also advised and noted that several other vehicles on the victim’s property appeared to have been gone through, moved, parts removed from, or otherwise tampered with. At the time of this report, there are no suspects and the incident is still under investigation.
At approximately 10:43 am, officers arrested 52-year-old Todd Wilkerson of Kennett on an active state of Missouri warrant issued out of Dunklin County. Wilkerson was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only.
At approximately 11:45 am, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of West Ninth Street in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim’s ex-girlfriend would not stop harassing him. It should be noted that this was the second call within the previous twelve hours involving the couple and that officers have responded to the residence multiple times in the past several months regarding the same issues. Officers subsequently arrested 58-year-old Annie Wilbourn of Kennett for Domestic Assault 4th Degree. Wilbourn was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.
At approximately 1:44 pm, officers were dispatched to the Kennett Police Department in reference to a subject reporting child neglect. Officers contacted the Missouri Department of Children’s Services who will be handling the investigation.
At approximately 10:05 pm, officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 25 near Travis Drive. During the stop, officers subsequently arrested 26-year-old KC Carter of Kennett for Driving While Intoxicated. Carter was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center.

At approximately 3:18 am, officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Clipper and Emerson Streets. During the stop, officers subsequently arrested 21-year-old Kaleb Tribble of Kennett on an active Gideon Municipal warrant. Tribble was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only.
At approximately 9:06 am, officers were dispatched to the Kennett Police Department to speak with a subject in regards to a burglary. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had apparently unlawfully entered the victims shed during the night and stole several items. At the time of this report, there are no suspects, and the incident is still under investigation.
At approximately 11:03 am, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Maple Street in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers received conflicting statements from the parties involved. A report was completed and forwarded to the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office for review.
At approximately 11:17 am, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of South Hopper Street in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the property owner who advised that the tenant of the residence was currently incarcerated and he had received information of people taking things out of the residence. Upon further investigation, officers subsequently arrested 44-year-old Rodney Craion of Kennett for felony stealing. Craion was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.
At approximately 12:04 pm, officers were dispatched to the Kennett Police Department in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim had allowed someone to stay at their residence and later discovered items missing from the home. This incident is still under investigation.
At approximately 3:50 pm, officers were dispatched to the Kennett Police Department in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had stolen the victim’s credit card and used the card to purchase several items. This incident is still under investigation.
At approximately 3:55 pm, officers received information regarding a wanted person at a residence in the 300 block of Legion Street. Upon arrival, officers located and arrested 25-year-old Christopher Hampton of Kennett on an active state of Missouri warrant issued out of Dunklin County. Hampton was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only.
At approximately 5:10 pm, officers were dispatched to the Kennett Police Department in regards to a subject who had been threatened. Upon arrival, officers learned that the subject did not wish to pursue charges and that they only wanted a report on file for future references.
At approximately 4:46 pm, officers were dispatched to the Tropical Snow parking lot in reference to a female who appeared to be unconscious inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and made contact with the occupant. During the contact, officers located an undisclosed amount of prescription medication. Officers subsequently arrested 40-year-old Donna Turner of Kennett. As officers attempted to place Turner into custody, she attempted to run away, however, was subdued without incident and taken into custody. Turner was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Resisting Arrest.
At approximately 10:36 pm, officers were flagged down on Independence Avenue in reference to an unconscious female needing medical attention. Upon making contact, the female eventually came to and was transported for medical treatment. The female later returned to the police department after she was treated and stated that she had been assaulted. At the time of this report, the incident is still under investigation.

7-26-2018
At approximately 7:45 am, officers were dispatched to American Automotive on Independence Avenue in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had unlawfully entered the business however, it appeared that there was nothing missing. At the time of this report, a suspect has not been identified however, the incident is still under investigation.
At approximately 4:58 pm, officers arrested 33-year-old Gill Johnson of Kennett on an active Missouri Probation and Parole warrant. Johnson was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only.
At approximately 8:26 pm, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Harrison Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the parties involved neither of whom wished to pursue charges and agreed to stay at separate residences for the night.
At approximately 10:14 pm, officers arrested 33-year-old Terenia Malady of Kennett on an active Kennett Municipal warrant and an active state of Missouri warrant issued out of Butler County. Malady was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrants only.
