Portageville man jailed on Federal charges marijuana, gun charges

handcuffsAccording to Chief Ronnie Adams of the Portageville Police Department, on January 24, at approximately 10:20 am, officers with the Portageville Police Department, New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, Agents with the SEMO Drug Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, executed a Federal Warrant at 1100 DeLisle Apartment 8. The Federal Arrest Warrant was direct result of a traffic stop conducted by the Portageville Police Department on January 2, 2017. During the investigation of the traffic stop, approximately 1.1 pounds of marijuana and a firearm was located inside the vehicle.

Officers located and arrested 36 year old Torry D. Saxton on a Federal Arrest Warrant for the following Charges: Count 1, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and Count 2, possession of a firearm in relation to drug trafficking crime.

Officers searched Saxton’s residence and located an additional firearm and a large amount of currency. Agents with ATF seized the weapon and currency.

While officers were located at 1100 DeLisle Apartment 8, additional officers secured another location, located at 704 Foster Ave., known to be another property owned by Saxton. While at the Foster Ave. location, officers noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the building.

The building was secured while a search warrant was obtained. During the execution of the search warrant, officers located a small amount of controlled substances and items used in the distribution of drugs.
