Early morning crash seriously injures a Kennett man

46-year-old Brad Matheny of Kennett was seriously injured Thursday morning when his SUV slammed into the back of a transport van in Kennett, according the Kennett Police Department. The crash happened at around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Russell Street.

Police say the van driven by Randall Pickett of Malden was slowing down to turn onto Russell when Matheny crashed into the rear of the vehicle. Matheny suffered serious injuries.

A Survival Flight helicopter landed on Independence at the scene of the crash to transport the him to the MED in Memphis for treatment. Pickett and two passengers were taken by ambulance to the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center and later released. Traffic was blocked in both directions of Independence for a time while officers worked the accident.
